Peaceful trees and mantras

the Peace of the Trees

a mantra of trees and people

Working with the Chakras, this mantra comes from the Peace Mantra Foundation. You could experiment with the suggestions here to find what works for you: simply using the words on their own, adding the notes, using qualities other than “peace”, working with a friend to lay words and notes together

If you find the pattern that works for you, why not record it and if we can we’ll post it for other people to share?

The Words ( use in this order, or as Steve recommends, use these running from roots to canopy of the tree of your self)

Peace within my crown of leaves,

Peace within my smaller branches,

Peace within my larger branches,

Peace within the stillness of my heart,

Peace within the length of my trunk,

Peace within the base of my trunk,

Peace within my deepest roots.

WORKING WITH THIS MANTRA:

RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE PEACE MANTRA FOUNDATION

For the meditation below, read from the bottom upwards

The suggested optional chanting notes assume C as the starting point. If starting on a different note transpose as necessary, e.g. starting on G would mean using the scale G – A – B – C sharp -D – E - F. Or just use any scale you like!

The Crown - Peace within my crown of leaves – (Note: B flat)

The Third Eye - Peace within my smaller branches – (Note: A)

The Throat - Peace within my larger branches –(Note: G)

The Heart - Peace within the stillness of my heart – (Note: F sharp)

The Solar Plexus - Peace within the length of my trunk – (Note: E)

The Sacrum - Peace within the base of my trunk – (Note: D)

The Base - Peace within my deepest roots – (Note: C)

Below is the same meditation, but using the harmonic series – the natural law of sound – starting on C2*, which is two octaves below middle C. Again, transpose as necessary if starting on a different note. These notes are imagining or playing on an instrument rather than singing

(* sorry! my editing system won't let me do subscripts!)

The Crown - Peace within my crown of leaves – The Seventh Harmonic (a slightly flat B flat4)

The Third Eye - Peace within my smaller branches – the Sixth Harmonic (G4)

The Throat - Peace within my larger branches - The Fifth Harmonic (E4)

The Heart - Peace within the stillness of my heart – The Fourth Harmonic (C4)

The Solar Plexus - Peace within the length of my trunk – The Third Harmonic (G3)

The Sacrum - Peace within the base of my trunk – The Second Harmonic (C3)

The Base - Peace within my deepest roots – The First Harmonic (C2)

I suggest reciting each line at least five times while focussing upon the appropriate chakra

Other qualities may be used, e.g. Healing, Love, Joy, Wisdom…

~~~~~~
Thanks to Steve for this beautiful meditation. if you use this - or have something similar from your own faith, tradition or personal practice, we'd love to hear about it!
Thanks
